Kagan Logistics Queensland - Employer of Choice - 08/20/2008

Kagan (Queensland) is proud to be the recipient of the T&L Industry Futures Award, which recognises Kagan's commitment to providing people with entry to, and pathway in, the Transport, Supply Chain and Logistics industries.

Our Queensland State Manager, Peter Thompson, and Transport Manager, Paul Yeoman, represented Kagan Logistics at the T&L Industry Development Awards gala event. Held during the 2008 Queensland Supply Chain and Logistics Conference, the event attracted over 350 people.

In late 2006, Kagan Logistics (Queensland) took the initiative to pilot the Industry Leading Industry Program, facilitated through Queensland Transport. As a result of this Program, Kagan has fully staffed a second site in Hemmant with candidates attracted through word of mouth. Staff morale is at an all time high, with record sales months and the lowest turnover recorded for the branch. Structured training has also provided career pathways for many team members, with approximately half the workforce undertaking formal qualifications.

Peter Thompson was also recognised for his significant role in this project.

In accepting the 2008 Award, Peter Thompson said: "Firstly, thanks must go to the sponsors EsSCO and Queensland Transport, as without them there are no awards programs like this, and secondly my sincerest gratitude to the SCLAA for once again having the foresight to introduce such awards into the industry.

"I also want to thank my team. I may have led, but they certainly had the input, drive and ambition to make this project work; and just as important is the commitment to ensure we share our practices and keep the ball rolling. We are proud and honoured to receive this Award. We held a celebratory team lunch on the Monday following the annoucement."
